One Meralco Foundation’s Electrification Projects

Electricity plays a vital role for all the Filipinos because it’s a primary source of power and we need it in our daily lives. People in the metro should thank Meralco for providing it.

Bloggers had a chance to talk with two of Meralco’s head. First is Mr. Jeffrey Tarayao, President of One Meralco Foundation. 

One Meralco Foundation (OMF) is the corporate foundation and social development arm of the Manila Electric Company (MERALCO), the largest electric utility company in the Philippines.

Formerly named Meralco Millennium Foundation, Inc., the foundation was re-launched as One Meralco Foundation, Inc. in 2011 and aligned its core advocacies to the corporate goals of the

mother company.

OMF is a donee institution accredited by the Philippine Council of NGO Certification, a registered social welfare and development agency under the Department of Social Welfare

and Development, and a member of the Philippine Business for Social Progress, Philippine Business for the Environment and the League of Corporate Foundations.

According to Mr. Jeffrey, they are more focus on the Electrification Projects. The foundation are reaching out to the remote places and farthest area in the Philippines. They plan to light up more areas as this is their campaign, "Light Up Pilipinas".  You may check the video interview below. 

We also interviewed, Mr. Joe Zaldarriaga,  VP Head for Corporate Communications. If you’re not familiar with him, he is the man in the video of Meralco Advisory along with his tandem Maita David. 

He shared that power rates are much lower now compared to the other months. Also, when it comes to disaster awareness, their response team is much faster now in restoring electricity especially when there are typhoons. 

The power of Social media is very helpful especially if we experience Power Interruption since we can easily contact the Meralco Team to report the Outage in a certain area.
